When a dam was built on Cobbosseecontee Stream in Gardiner, the backwater flooded to form what is now known as Cobbossee Stream and Pleasant Pond. Located just outside the capital city of Augusta, Maine, Pleasant Pond is merely a wide spot in the stream that serves as the outlet of Lake Cobbosseecontee (aka-Cobbossee Lake.) Overall, the pond is relatively shallow with a maximum recorded depth of just 31 feet. Public access is primarily gained at a town maintained public launch facility located at the south end on Thorofare Road. Since a low bridge separates Upper Pleasant Pond from the main water body, an access site is located on each side of the road. Limited parking is available along the road so it is best to arrive early, particularly during the busy summer season. Featured Species: Brown Trout, Smallmouth Bass, White Perch, Chain Pickerel, Yellow Perch Map Features: Waterway Profile, Accesses, Fishery Information, Contour Lines
