J. Percy Priest Lake was formed in 1968 with the completion of the J. Percy Priest Dam, which impounded the Stones River. Construction was directed by the Army Corps of Engineers, who currently own and manage the land surrounding the lake. Though the dam’s primary purposes are to provide hydroelectric power and flood control, the lake is also a well-regarded, and extremely popular, fishing lake. This highly productive lake contains a wide variety of gamefish, making it a popular destination for all kinds of anglers. Largemouth bass, crappie, hybrid striped (Cherokee) bass, and catfish are the most pursued, but many others are available. The strong forage base and eutrophic nature of the lake support strong populations of fish, allowing it to withstand the heavy pressure it sees. Featured Species: Largemouth Bass, Hybrid Striped (Cherokee) Bass, Crappie, and Channel Catfish Map Features: Lake Profile
