Messalonskee Lake (Laminated)
At 3,510 acres, Messalonskee Lake is the second largest body of water in the famed Belgrade Chain of Lakes. It is also the last lake in the chain, draining to the Kennebec River at Waterville via Messalonskee Stream. Messalonskees shoreline is mostly developed with permanent and seasonal homes. An excellent boat launch facility with ample parking is located at the outlet in the Town of Oakland. Another site, although shallow, provides access on Belgrade Stream at the inlet on Route 27. Variable-Leaf milfoil is present at this launch and it is imperative that site users thoroughly clean their watercraft after using it. Please, help stop the spread of this non-native water plant by inspecting your watercraft and its accessories. The lake is well-marked with navigational aids by the Maine Department of Conservation.
