The Ionian Sea ies to the west, the Gulf of Messinia to the south, and the southest point are the Oinousses islands. To the east the border is mountain Taygetos (2407 m). Other major cities are Kiparisia, Gargaliani, Ithomi, Filiatra, Kardamili, Petalidi, Pilos, Koroni, Methoni, Meligalas, Chora and Messini.
